"Project Mosaic's Immigrant Youth Theatre Project": Attend an orientation meeting for interested youth and their parents at the church, 1945 High Street (Directions). This project will involve youth from immigrant families to create an original theatre piece comprised of the participants own monologues, dialogs, stories and songs to capture the fears, frustration, anxiety, concerns, opinions and attitudes that youth have around the immigrant issues that affect their community today. The piece will be performed at the end of the summer. It is directed by theatre professional, Sally Juarez, who is also the pastor of High Street Presbyterian Church.

Project Mosaic's

Summer Youth Theatre on…

IMMIGRANT JUSTICE

How are you and your family affected by the new Immigration Reform legislation and fear of ICE raids in the United States? Why haven't Congress and the Bush Administration gotten it right?  What are the missing pieces?   What vision do you have for the future as Immigrant Youth in America?  First, 1.5 and second generation immigrant youth are invited to participate.

Be part of creating a docudrama based on your story, your feelings, attitudes, opinions, frustrations, hopes and dreams told in your own voice through the vehicle of theatre and film.  This theatre montage will also include the use of music and poetry, and may utilize dance and mime, depending on the skills and talents of those in the ensemble.

Working with an experienced director, you will create your original drama to share in your neighborhood and the larger community.  Not interested in performance?  Paint background flats, operate stage lighting or sound equipment, be a production assistant.  This project is open to youth between the ages of 12 and 20 from all cultural backgrounds and immigrant communities.
